Modak is a popular Indian sweet. It is believed that Modak is Lord Ganesha’s favorite food and therefore served as an offer in rituals and worshipping. The dumpling-like sweet is consisted of a dough wrapper and sweet fillings. The fillings are freshly grated coconut and jaggery, while the wrapper is made from rice flour mixed with Khoya, Indian cottage cheese, or maida, refined wheat flour. Served with hot ghee, Modak can be fried or steamed. New fillings like chocolate and grounded nuts are stuffed.
